Ride Report: On my own

Sunday 24 May 2015, Memorial Day Weekend.  I just had to ride.  Since it was a holiday weekend, I didn't bother checking with anyone else to see if they were riding.  I got off to a bit of a late start but didn't have plans to go too far anyway.

After I watched the Formula 1 Monaco race, I decided to just go for it.  I knew that I wanted to ride at least one of the days during the long weekend and Sunday turned out to be it.

I hit familiar roads taking the quickest way to the twisty stuff since I left a lot later than I wanted to.  Since the days were longer I hoped it wouldn't be too much of a problem.  I simply pointed the bike towards Richard B Russell Scenic Highway and headed out, mindful to avoid Helen, GA.

I got a selfie stick!
Stopped at some of the RBR pullouts that I've never stopped at before to admire the view.  Then I made the mistake of riding GA 17.  Too many damned tar snakes made it a miserable slow ride.

Went back to RBR then to Blood Mountain and home.  It was a short day, only 212 miles, but I felt great.  The bike was flawless as usual.

When I stopped for gas on the way home, I noticed the missing rear turn signal.

Thanks for reading,

Old signals re-installed until I can decide on replacement

  1. Just wanted to say thanks for documenting so much of your work with the FZ1. I'm in the Atlanta area and I've just picked up a 2001. Your blog is a great resource.

    1. You're welcomed. If you haven't already, check out yamahafz1oa.com. Even more info with decent people willing to help. Pat's FZ1 site is linked on that forum and is one I still go to when working on the bike.
